Becoming a Certified Management Accountant
CMAs are recognized for their training that encompasses the interdependent disciplines of accounting, management and strategy. This makes the CMA a sought-after designation for many employers, seeking professionals who have combined their accounting expertise with professional management skills to provide essential leadership in key roles within a variety of organizations.
Like other accounting professionals, CMAs hold roles as presidents, vice-presidents, CFOs, managers, controllers, accountants or senior analysts in companies big and small, or within their own successful entrepreneurial ventures.
The CMA designation can be earned in a few ways. The program requires an undergraduate university degree. The standard approach is to write the entrance exam followed by an extensive Strategic Leadership Program. The designation can also be earned in a joint CMA and Masters degree program or an executive program for senior level executives.
