Becoming a Law Clerk in Ontario

Congratulations on your interest in continuing your legal education and taking the first step in your exciting new career as a Law Clerk!

In Ontario, Law Clerks are employed by governmental agencies, law firms of all sizes, as well as financial institutions and corporate entities.  Positions can be found as permanent, full-time Clerks, temporary/short-term assignments, or contract work of a fixed duration. 

Although many programs are offered, it is highly recommended that you ensure your credentials will be recognized by The Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario prior to commencing a course.  This will optimize your opportunities for attaining employment once your program has been completed.

Centennial College

A Toronto-based educational institution offering a Law Clerk program recognized by ILCO.

 

 

Conestoga College

An institution based in Waterloo Region with operations across Southwestern Ontario, offering ILCO accredited courses.

 

 

Confederation College

An educational institution located in Thunder Bay, providing ILCO-recognized training.

 

 

Durham College

Durham is an Oshawa-based school providing a Legal Administration/Law Clerk program recognized by ILCO.

 

 

Fanshawe College

A London-based school offering an ILCO-accredited program.

 

 

George Brown College

A Toronto-based college providing courses recognized by ILCO.

 

 

Georgian College

A college with locations in Barrie and Owen Sound, providing ILCO-recognized courses.

 

 

Humber College

Humber's Etobicoke location offers an ILCO recognized program.

 

 

Loyalist College

Loyalist is located in Belleville, and offers courses accredited by ILCO.

 

 

Mohawk College

Mohawk College is located in Hamilton, and offers Law Clerk courses.

 

 

Niagara College

Niagara is located in Welland, and offers courses approved by ILCO.

Seneca is a college in Toronto which offers ILCO-approved courses.
