Becoming a Legal Assistant in Ontario

Kudos to you on taking the first step in becoming a Legal Assistant - your career ahead will be filled with interesting challenges across a variety legal disciplines, and will take you wherever you imagine!  In Ontario, Legal Assistants are employed by governmental agencies, law firms of all sizes, as well as financial institutions and corporate entities.  Positions can be found as permanent, full-time, temporary/short-term assignments, or contract employees.

The first thing you will want to do, is make sure you are on the right path from the start.  There are many educational institutions offering programs to train Legal Assistants.  However, you should make sure you take the time to diligently review the course curriculum offered and compare it to your career aspirations to ensure that you are receiving the appropriate training by graduation to put you in the best possible situation to attain your first job as a Legal Assistant.

	Humber College Humber College offers a variety of legal-industry educational programs.
	Mohawk College Mohawk College offers an Office Administration - Legal program to its students.
	Niagara College Niagara is located in Welland, and offers a Law & Security Administration program.
	Seneca College Seneca College offers an Office Administration - Legal program.
